Understand the differences between these two orthodontic treatments.

A common question frequently asked is ‘should I do regular braces or Invisalign?’

Orthodontic treatment has significantly changed since I was a kid in the 1970s and 80s (ouch). Today, orthodontic treatment is started much earlier in a lot of kids with expanders and addressing bone issues at a younger age. Even though this usually requires two phases of braces, this is a great thing for orthodontic treatment.

Nowadays we have the option of clear aligners (Invisalign and others) in place of the traditional brackets and wires. Traditional and Invisalign treatment both have advantages and disadvantages.

Every case is different and needs to have a thorough examination to determine the best course of orthodontic treatment.  As patients we have hopes and expectations; however, we need to understand the benefits and limitations of either treatment option. We also trust our dentist or orthodontist to be honest and plan the treatment for our best interest, not just to make quick / easy money on our mouth. Better Smiles can help you find an honest, excellent dentist.
